Choosing for the backyard

  1. 01

    Level, firm ground

    The area should be level and well drained, and the set is fixed with the included ground anchor kit.

  2. 02

    Impact-absorbing surface

    Wood chips, engineered wood fiber, sand, pea gravel or rubber around the set — never concrete, asphalt or packed dirt. Grass isn’t enough.

  3. 03

    Sun and shade

    Try not to face slides into the afternoon sun; surfaces can get hot.

  4. 04

    After winter

    Freeze–thaw can loosen anchors and hardware. Give everything a check in spring before the first climb.
